Company Background

Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc. was incorporated in August 2005 and launched at the Barbados Hilton in April 2006.   There are 42 Barbadians, former West Indies cricketers, still alive but now retired from test cricket, most of who contributed significantly to the success of the team in those "glory days". These 42 men constitute the Legends and are the current equal subscribers to the Permanent Subscribed Capital of Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc.

There has been a major investment by the public and private sectors in Barbados in support of ICC CWC 2007.  World Cup Barbados Inc. has designed a Legacy Vision for Barbados to harness the tremendous opportunity that comes with the staging of a major event such as the ICC CWC 2007.  Its aim is to develop innovative and creative programmes which will redound to the benefit of Barbadians long after the event has ended.

One of the targets in this Legacy Vision is "Cricket Barbados" which aims at creating the future cricket legends of Barbados.  To this end a company "Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc" was formed to inspire a new generation of cricketers on the island, by placing them in contact with the national cricketing legends, who has successfully represented the West Indies.

In implementing this project, Cricket Legends on Barbados Inc. will develop working partnerships with cricketing and other institutions in Barbados, the region and internationally and generally contribute to uplifting the image and future of the game of cricket.

Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc. will operate as a commercial entity and contribute to the financial security of the Legends by using a pro-active and innovative business approach.  In doing so the Company will also establish a Legends Foundation to contribute, as appropriate, to the social needs of the community.  This approach will offer for sale locally, regionally and internationally, a wide range of high quality goods (e.g. memorabilia) and services (e.g. lectures, appearances) reflective of the rich legacy of Barbados and West Indies cricket.
